2010 Seminar for DCs and CAs - Annual Convention & 75th Celebration

Are You Billing Correctly and Can You Prove It?
Effective Coding and Documentation for the Chiropractic Practice
Saturday, August 28, 2010 10:00am-5:00pm
Not approved for Continuing Education
Speaker:
Susan McClelland, BS, FICC
Coding and documentation are two facets of clinical treatment that many practitioners don’t enjoy. Doing it improperly can prompt record reviews and payment refunds, which can cause stress in the clinic to both doctors and staff. Susan McClelland can help you, and your office staff, en¬hance your coding skills and obtain answers to your specific coding and documentation questions.
Discussion to include:
• Do you know how a code becomes a code? Do you know what goes into a code’s value and why some codes are “worth more” than others?
• Learn how to properly use Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes, including office visits, consultations and even non-face-to-face encounters!
• Learn the difference between supervised modalities and constant attendance modalities and learn how to properly bill a “timed” code.
• Do you know about diagnosis linking?
• Modifiers can make or break a claim. Learn what they mean, how to use them, and how they can affect claim processing and reimbursement.
• Do you use 99070 for supplies/DME? Learn a better way!
• Learn about downcoding, upcoding, bundling, unbundling, and other things that could be interpreted as fraud and/or abuse.
• Do you know what information should be in every patient health record?
• Learn the right way to request records from another provider and the proper way to respond to similar requests that have been sent to you.
• Informed consent has recently become a hot issue. Is your form “up to speed”?
• Learn how to document home care instructions and patient education.
• Learn the right way to document maintenance care.
… AND PLENTY OF TIME AT THE END TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS!
